A poetry contest is returning to New Milford after well more than two decades without one. Poems will be accepted by email, and can also be dropped off at the library, through April 1. For more information, download this press release. Winners will be notified by April 14 and invited to read their poem at a poetry reading in Memorial Hall at New Milford Public Library on April 22 at 2 pm. In addition, cash prizes will be awarded.

The New Milford Commission on the Arts was established by ordinance in 1977. Its mission is to support and encourage the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural experiences in the Town. Experiences include but are not limited to music, theater, dance, film, literature, and visual arts such as painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture. The Commission coordinates or contracts with individuals or organizations to sponsor, fund, or originate cultural and artistic activities.
The Commission is a volunteer organization that maintains monthly meetings that are open to the general public. Agendas and Minutes of these meetings are held on file in the New Milford Town Clerk’s Office.

Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio is sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts. Its mission is to provide a friendly space to display and sell remarkable works of fine art and unique handmade artisan creations; to stimulate interaction and cultural exchange throughout western Connecticut and with other arts organizations and schools; to educate through programs and presentations; and to foster interest and appreciation for the creative arts within the greater New Milford community. All this happens in an atmosphere that fosters support and cooperation among its members.
The Edwin Kinkade Concerts on the Green series is organized by the NMCOA. Free concerts are held on Saturdays at 7:30 PM from July through August at the bandstand on the Village Green. Residents are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs. See the concerts tab above for information about future and past concerts, bands, and musicians.
Last year's Carol Sing was held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at 6:30 pm at the bandstand followed by the Parade of Lights at 7:30 pm. It is a wonderful way for area families to share the spirit of the holiday season.
December 16-31, 2022 - Model trains are back! Sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts, it is located at Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio and is open on Friday & Saturday from noon to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
